The road-going only version (well, mainly) of an Allroad, as far as I can make out. My sig tells of the joy I had. Chris in N. London may recall (although he will have seen many cars since) my white A4 Avant... What a wonderful car. Did everything we asked of it and did it quickly and very economically. That one has now gone. Not to the great yard in the sky, but to a new owner. We moved... To another country. (Again, Chris may recall we talked about our emigrating to NZ.) We questioned our move after my not finding work for 12 months, but that's now sorted. Of course, that's not the end of the story - work is 120km from home. And there's no public transport, so driving is the only option. In a perfect world, I'd have another A4 Avant TDi, except they are as rare as something very rare indeed. Actually, all older TDis are rare as they weren't typically imported directly to NZ, so they tend to be personal imports only. However, I have found a 2002 A6 Avant. 2.5TDi Quattro automatic. Just over 100,000 miles and I am assured with full history including invoices for timing belt, waterpump and tensioners having been replaced. It's expensive at NZ$10k, (quite literally at least twice the price of a comparable car in the UK) but that's the difficulty with buying in such a small market. If I bought one now (in the UK) and paid all the costs associated with importing it to NZ, the price would work out about the same. Curiously, this one has no towbar, something I'd come to think was almost a standard fit! Anyway... Any suggestions or recommendations for what to look for when inspecting? Ta, Graham (hoping to update his signature again!) ![]() Comments are closed.
